Before planning your wedding, one of the most important things a bride-to-be focuses on is her wedding dress! Bridal gown shopping is a critical yet an exciting journey for every girl who has dreamt of wearing a white dress! Whether you’ve envisioned yourself in a princess ball gown or a simple wedding dress, finding the right one depends on many factor other than your personal preferences. One of the most important things to consider is your body type. Not every bridal dress will look flattering on every body type, that’s why it’s very important to abide by the styles that will compliment your body perfectly! So, if you’re getting ready to find your dream dress, here are our top tips to make this process enjoyable, and your bridal look memorable!
Every little girl who has seen Disney princess movies has pictured herself in a dazzling voluminous princess gown on her wedding day. This dress style is one of the most popular ones in the bridal fashion, and fortunately almost every bride can wear that style. If you’re a triangle shape with wide hips, a rectangle shape, an hourglass shape or an inverted triangle shape, a ball gown will look phenomenal on you! With a tight corset bodice and a voluminous skirt, you’ll get the royal effect and a royal bridal look.
Similar to a ball gown, an A-line dress is universally known to be the most flattering dress style as it suits all body types! The beauty of this style is that it creates an illusion of an hourglass shape for women, highlighting her feminine curves with its cinched waist. You can always find matching flower girls dresses, and your maid-of-honor and bridesmaids can wear similar styles to get a coherent look for the bridal party.
Moving on to a more traditional dress style, the empire cut. An empire wedding dress style is similar to an A-line dress when it comes to the cut and the body shapes! The difference between an empire dress and an A-line gown is that the first one’s skirt flares out just under the bust, whereas the second one starts from the waist. Same as the A-line style, any body shape can rock this style as it hides the lower part perfectly and focuses on the upper-half! However, if you’re a busty bride you might feel as if this style is accentuating that area in a bad way, so be aware of this issue!
A mermaid dress is a critical and limited option for bridal ceremony. When it comes to form-fitted dresses, only two body types are perfectly appropriate for it: hourglass shapes and triangle shape! A mermaid wedding gown is a dress that hugs your body perfectly from the top all the way down to the knees, then flares out slightly in a skirt with a train. If you’re an hourglass shape then you probably would like to show off your feminine figure in a dress that emphasizes your assets, similar to a triangle shape. The reason why this type of dresses isn’t suitable for a rectangle shape for example, is that it does nothing to the figure and we wouldn’t want you to look anything less than perfect on the big day!
Next on the list is sheath dresses. A sheath dress with on that falls loosely around your body, giving a slight hint to your body shape. This wedding dress style is perfect if you’re hosting a small wedding ceremony, a civil marriage ceremony, a katb kteb or even an outdoor wedding. Even though this dress falls under the simple wedding dresses category, it gives a sophisticated and elegant look and style. The style is usually designed of satin fabric or silk fabric, or any other lightweight material.
Even when you play the cards right and choose the dress silhouette that best flatters your body type, you still find yourself stuck and overwhelmed. If that’s the case, it’s highly recommended to start looking into custom made dress options! This service is ideal for the brides who have a specific vision that they want to incorporate for their looks. When it comes to a made-to measure gown, you get to choose the fabrics, embellishments, beads, embroidery and every other detail. Whether it’s lace, tulle, organza, Mikado, taffeta, silk, satin or any fabric of your choice, your vision will be turned into reality with the help of Esposacouture creative director, Kristie Romanos!
